'St. Elmo's Fire' ... ET Rewind.

4 Feb 2012

'St. Elmo's Fire' ... ET Rewind.
St. Elmo's Fire hit the box office in the summer of '85 at the height of the Brat Pack's fame and notoriety. Back in the fall of '84, ET was on the set of the Joel Schumacher-directed film, which helped to solidify the reputation of the Pack as hard partiers -- and made co-star Demi Moore famous. Watch the video as Rob Lowe, Ally Sheedy, Andrew McCarthy, Emilio Estevez, Judd Nelson and Demi joke around, talk about working together and of hoping to indulge in campus temptations while on location in Georgetown (save for Demi, who was fresh from rehab at the behest of Schumacher). Demi's Pre- 'St. Elmo's Fire' Days: I Was a Loner.

30 Jan 2012

Demi's Pre- 'St. Elmo's Fire' Days: I Was a Loner.
Just a few weeks after a young Demi Moore completed a stint in rehab at the insistence of St. Elmo's Fire director Joel Schumacher, ET caught up with the superstar-in-the-making on the set of the iconic '80s film. Watch the vintage 1984 footage... "It was real exciting because I've never worked with such a large cast," said the then-21-year-old star of the Brat Pack ensemble that included soon-to-be fiance Emilio Estevez, Rob Lowe, Judd Nelson, Andrew McCarthy, Ally Sheedy and Mare Winningham. "It's worked out to be a real group of loving people." Although she did not directly address her time in rehab, Demi perhaps cryptically acknowledged that she had received "a lot of support." She added that she's a lot like her "exciting" character of Jules, who at one point in the movie goes on a wild, cocaine-fueled binge. "We're all playing extensions of ourselves that are, you know, real inward places that we've probably yet not looked at," she mused. Demi had not gone to college, and she recounted of her upbringing, "It's really hard for me. I had such a different life. I never really had this kind of experience. I was more of a loner in that sense. Never really had a group, so it's a new experience for me." She added with a laugh, "I don't know if I could handle fraternity life." Link; www.etonline.com

Welcome To The Rileys Movie Review

30 Nov 2011

Welcome To The Rileys Movie Review
watch full video at vidjaa1.info Cast & Crew Director Jake Scott Producer : Giovanni Agnelli, Scott Bloom, Michael Costigan Screenwriter : Ken Hixon Starring : James Gandolfini, Melissa Leo, Kristen Stewart, Joe Chrest, Ally Sheedy, Tiffany Coty, Eisa Davis, Lance E. Nichols Observant writing and direction make this exploration of grief surprisingly uplifting. This also gives the cast members the chance to play complex characters who engage our sympathies while never wallowing in their sadness. Doug Riley (Gandolfini) and his wife Lois (Leo) have a quietly tense marriage that's infused with grief over the death of their teen daughter. So when Doug's mistress (Davis) dies suddenly, he doesn't know how to cope. Then he discovers that Lois has already bought their tombstone. On a business trip to New Orleans, he develops a tentative father-daughter relationship with young prostitute Mallory (Stewart). But while he's helping Mallory get back on her feet, Lois is in meltdown mode. So she stops taking her pills and drives to New Orleans. Filmaker Scott creates a foreboding tone from the start, immediately plunging us into the Rileys' grief, which is clearly tearing them apart in the slowest, most painful way possible. These scenes are played with a raw, aching sadness by Gandolfini and Leo. So the contrast with the sparky Stewart is striking (and not just because her usual performances are so mopey). This approach pulls us in strongly, telling an intriguing story full of ...

Ally Sheedy from New York

27 Nov 2011

Ally Sheedy from New York
Ally Sheedy www.shanagrant.com While at New York's Bank Street School, 12-year-old Ally Sheedy wrote about a mythical encounter between Queen Elizabeth I and an inquisitive mouse. The result, "She Was Nice to Mice", was published by McGraw-Hill and became an instant best seller. Although it proved a springboard to an acting career, Sheedy's strongest memories of childhood remain those of "dancing and doing plays". From six until fourteen, she danced with the American Ballet Theatre and, during summers at Fire Island, she'd "get a bunch of kids together and stage shows on back lawns and porches". When she discovered that to stay with dancing meant staying with starvation diets, she shifted her focus to acting for good. Meanwhile, her book brought her requests from several publications. The Village Voice asked her to review movies and the New York Times wanted her to review children's books. The assignment she accepted was from Ms. Magazine, which requested an article about her mother and herself. It was an appearance on ""The Mike Douglas Show" (1961) to promote her book, however, that brought Sheedy work as a performer. Signed by an agent who caught the show, she was sent out on television commercials, immediately. Only 15 at the time, she also performed off-Broadway and on a series of after-school specials. The day she turned 18, Sheedy packed her bags and headed for Los Angeles, where she enrolled in the drama department at USC, and soon landed roles in the television ...

Life During Wartime (2009) {R} Trailer for Movie Review at http://www.edsreview.com

5 Nov 2011

Life During Wartime (2009) {R} Trailer for Movie Review at http://www.edsreview.com
www.edsreview.com This is the story of three sisters, Trish (Allison Janney) and Joy (Shirley Henderson), and estranged Helen (Ally Sheedy), each married to degenerate men, as they ponder the virtues of forgiving and forgetting. As Joy visits Trish to escape problems with her perverted, druggy husband, Trish is unaware that her own ex-husband, a pedophile whom she's claimed is dead, is now out of prison. This is also the story of Trish's two sons, the older who is away at school and trying to forget, and the younger son who acts way beyond his years, is scared to death that he is going to turn out just like his father. This is actually a sequel to filmmaker Todd Solondz's film Happiness. I admit that I did not see the first film, and having seen this one, I'm not sure that I would want to. I can't really compare this one to the first film, so I'm reviewing it as a stand alone film. Perhaps knowing the first film could possibly change my opinion of this one, but I doubt it. My complaint with this film is that is way, way too artsy for my taste. The story does come around and it all makes sense, but you're going to be so confused by the time you get half way through it, it's really annoying. The characters are so dark. It's pretty well acted, in that respect, but the characters are so unlikable that it is hard to get into their stories. The conversations between Trish and her younger son are disgusting and someone ought to call child services. The other sisters are just as ...
