Born Innocent, originally telecast September 9, 1974, concerns the plight of a teenaged reform-school inmate, played by Linda Blair in her first important post-Exorcist role. This 1974 made for television exposé still packs quite a dramatic punch despite its age. The reason Born Innocent remains effective is because it manages to criticize the juvenile reform system and the parents who send their children there without ever lapsing into preachiness or one-sided judgments. There are no villains in this film, just mistreated and misguided souls. Born Innocent also has a superb cast of actors who give strong but naturalistic performances; Linda Blair takes the top honors with her subtle, heartbreaking performance as a girl who transforms from a troubled innocent into a hardened troublemaker, but there are equally effective turns from Joanna Miles as the one caring teacher and Richard Jaeckel as the father who means well but is possessed of a terrible temper. Gerald Di Pego's script gives these dimensional characters a solid but unobtrusive framework in which to interact, allowing tensions to simmer slowly but surely to a memorable finale. Director Donald Wrye makes sure the horrific parts of the story pack a brutal punch, like a terrifying confrontation between Blair and her enemies in the shower room, but he balances these moments with plenty of gentler character moments and creates a style that is surprisingly lyrical given the dark subject matter. On my recent visit to Washington, DC,(november 2010) I took some new photos in Georgetown 3600 Prospect Le film narre la possession d'une jeune fille (Linda Blair : Regan Theresa MacNeil) par un démon (Pazuzu). Inspiré d'une histoire vraie, ce film est dans la lignée de Rosemary's Baby qui a pour thème un enfant démoniaque... L'histoire se déroule à Georgetown dans la banlieue de Washington. L'actrice de télévision Chris MacNeil est de plus en plus inquiète pour sa fille Regan en proie à des spasmes violents et à d'étranges symptômes devenus fréquents. Impuissants, les médecins lui conseillent de faire appel à un prêtre exorciste. Aidé du Père Damien Karras, le Père Merrin va tenter de libérer la jeune fille possédée par un démon... Mythologie : Pazuzu est souvent dépeint avec le corps d'un homme mais avec la tête d'une chauve-souris, avec des griffes à la place des pieds, deux paires d'ailes, une queue de scorpion et un pénis en forme de serpent. Il est aussi représenté avec la main droite levée, et la main gauche baissée, ce qui symbolise la vie et la mort, la création et la destruction. Doté d'une double paire d'ailes (qu'on trouvera aussi plus tard sur certaines représentations de chérubins ou d'anges), Pazuzu est le démon du vent du sud-ouest, connu pour apporter sécheresse et famine en saison sèche, et des Inondations lors de la saison humide. Il est invoqué pour produire des amulettes qui permettront de combattre les pouvoirs maléfiques de la déesse Lamashtu, qui <b>...</b>
