Our favorite fashion mentor, designer and beauty Nicole Richie steps out in a gorgeous gown at the 2012 Fifi Awards in New York City. Richie is a sight to see just about every time she steps out—whether that be in her own line or someone elses and for this big night, the lucky designer was Emilio Pucci. The frock from the designers Spring 2012 collection was absolutely stunning on the star with the trendy high low hemline. The detailing on the dress was unreal—with intricate embroidery and a light sequin detail. The sheer sleeves we're a great way to keep the dark hue summer appropriate and the neckline was the perfect sexy touch. The long train gave the dress an elegant feel even though the hemline was sky high in the front to show off Richie's lean legs. For shoes, Richie kept it all in the same color scheme going with some all black Brian Atwood pumps and she carried a simple clutch from her own line House of Harlow 1960. And in the jewelry department, Richie of course did it big with all bold pieces. She wore two statement rings and stunning drop earrings with a pewter and gold color combo. And Richie's hair was spot on—she loves the top knot, but she really glammed it up for this occasion giving it some extra detailing and height. When I was asked to interview NBC's Fashion Star winner, Kara Laricks, and Macy's buyer supreme and competition judge, Caprice Willard, for my acting and fashion blog, This is Candy Washington, I was so excited. Ask anyone who knows me; I love fashion just about as much as I love acting. But what I'm even more excited about is sharing my experience with you all. One of my favorite parts of working in front of the camera is of course, the hair and make-up session that happens behind-the-scenes. While in the coveted seat, I can just unwind and gab with the girls before the true work begins. I met this awesome hair and make-up stylist, Raedawn Johnson of Orglamic Beauty, and we chatted, joked around, and swapped stories before it was my time to go on-set. I have to admit, I was a bit nervous interviewing these two lovely ladies. Acting is one thing, embodying a character and bringing that person to life in a meaningful way, but hosting or being a personality is a delicate balance of being a personification of yourself, yet still authentic and genuine. Yikes, Nicole Richie is under fire for reportedly stealing a dress idea for her Winter Kate Collection! Richie isn't the first fashion star judge to be taking heat for a little borrowing of ideas. The new mom, Jessica Simpson, released a color blocked heel that strangely resembled a shoe from Christian Louboutin's collection. Nicole is famous for her boho chic style—so at first glance, this white dress from the stars 2012 Spring Line would be no question. However, with a little deeper research, Radar Online found that this dress is almost identical to a frock from Odylyne. And, Richie who might have been able to get out of hot water by claiming that she had never seen the dress, won't be able to do that considering she was seen spotted the dress in 2011. The dress has an asymmetrical hem line and is all white with av cut neckline and a brown braided belt that wraps around the waist. The original dress is currently on sale for $200.00 on ShopBop.com, but at it's peak sold for $286.00. Richie's version of the dress can be found on RevolveClothing.com for $475.00—quite the hefty price tag. But the price tag might be much larger if she is accused of stealing the dress idea--- but for now, it looks like the Fashion Star mentor is safe. She dished to InStyle, "If you're spending a ton of money on shoes, then you should put just as much effort into dressing up your head." So, straight from the fashion expert—we've got to get our hands on a headpiece, so here are some of my favorite picks. First, this gold pyramid hair accessory from Shop Jeen .com is incredible—It's not too flashy, but will definitely make the statement you want and it retails for $99.00. And I really love this piece from Hard Couture. It's double layered and the rose and gold color combo is perfect for spring. It retails for $89.00 and it's such a good buy! And this one from, Free People is so different and fun—it's braided faux suede and it has a turquoise star detailing in the front—a perfect match for those boho chic days and it goes for $88.00. Going by the name of Nicole Richie for Impulse, the Fashion Star's line will be available in mid-September in over 100 Macy's across the country and online at Macy's.com. Richie is already a veteran in the fashion designing spectrum with her line for QVC, Winter Kate and House of Harlow 1960—so designing a capsule collection for Macy's should be no problem! Her line will consist of anywhere from 24-30 styles and will be sold for 6 weeks if the collection lasts—Macy's doesn't think that it will stay on the shelves for more than 2 weeks. Richie says her inspiration for designing always starts with music—and this collection is no different. Richie gives us some deets on the line saying it's a great mix of masculine and feminine. And, in true designer fashion, Richie focused on the details—anything from the zipper pulls to the buttons to give Macy's the best collection possible.
